Frequently Asked Question #5: How far in advance do you plan your experiences?

how far in advance do you plan your experiences?

**This is the fifth post in a series of FAQ’s.**

Anyone who knows me in real life can tell you that organization is not my forte.  I keep a running list of ideas for new experiences in the back of a journal, but I do not have the whole year planned week by week.  During most weeks, I look at our calendar and determine when we’ll have time to experience something new.  Based on the amount of time we have, I’ll choose something from our list.  Sometimes I see an interesting event advertised and write it on our calendar.  If it fits with our schedule, we will try that as our new experience for the week.  There are, of course, some weeks when I realize it is already Friday and we haven’t done anything new.  That’s when my list of ideas is the most useful.  There is always something that we can do last-minute on a Saturday morning.

I like to think of my method of planning as free-flowing and flexible.  Others may see it as haphazard.  I suppose it depends on your outlook.
